Blogger Pete Taylor explains how he created a Raspberry Pi LED scrolling sign using our 80x08 LED Matrix Display. Neat project that may also give you tips as you build your next creation.

Sniff is a "Scratch-like" programming language that's designed to help Scratchers move gently from Scratch to more conventional languages. They can start writing programs, without having to learn a new language, because Sniff is based on Scratch.
The creator / coder shows exactly how to use the code with Embedded Adventures' LDP-8008 dual-LED, tri-colour 80 pixel by 8 pixel matrix display.
The files will be included in the next Sniff release, but in the mean time you can download and install them into your current Sniff system from the website.

Looking for a smaller LED matrix display for your project but still visible from across the room? Check out Embedded Adventures' new LED Display, which is 80mm x 20mm (3.15in x 0.78in)

This little guy has the same connection as other LED panels, so driver boards like the PLT-1001v4 or your existing software will work seamlessly. You can even daisy chain them together to make longer displays.
It includes shift-register circuitry such that all 1280 LEDs can be controlled with only 7 microcontroller I/O lines. Pixels can show as black (that is, completely unlit), or super bright red. Of course, it uses a standard HUB08 connection, so you can use the PLT-1001 driver boards to control it.
These panels can be daisy chained horizontally to create a longer message display board.
